Revati Gangal

Her paintings are based on human figures, with visual patterns expressing the thoughts and emotions of the subject. Fish are often recurring motifs in her works, depicting her or her state of mind. The use of various patterns in her paintings aim to engage and relax the viewer through an effect of repetition; similar to mindfulness meditation. In her current series, she has used themes from Indian mythology to express her interpretation of human existence, in the context of contemporary thinking. Her works are bright engaging as well as mysterious. She has applied local textile block-printing patterns to depict the warmth and earthiness of India's culture.
